PreS-Gr 2—Thomas is anxious to build a snowman one wintry day after school. As he begins, he realizes he will need some help, so he rushes inside to wake "the bear." But bears like to hibernate, so it will take some coaxing to get it out the door. First, Thomas lets in the sun, then he tries tickling the bear and offering him a toy. How about a delicious snack of milk and cookies? Yes, that gets the creature moving. Soon the snowman is done, and Thomas and the bear return inside to snuggle together on a comfy chair to read a favorite book by the fire. Patrons who are familiar with Pinder's book, How To Share with a Bear will be delighted to see "the bear" in action again. New readers will giggle as they realize the bear is Thomas's little brother in a bear outfit. Illustrations complement the text, and readers will be able to feel the wintry weather around them. VERDICT This is an enjoyable read-aloud any day of the year and will be a hit in a seasonal storytime.—Martha Rico, El Paso ISD, TX. Copyright 2016 School Library Journal.
