Beast : John Bonham and the rise of Led Zeppelin Cover Image Book Book

Beast : John Bonham and the rise of Led Zeppelin / C. M. Kushins.

Kushins, C.M., (author.).

Summary:

Playing the drums at the age of five despite never taking formal lessons, by the late 1960s John Bonham was looking for a solid gig in order to provide his growing family. Guitarist Jimmy Page sought new bandmates to help him record an album and tour as the New Yardbirds; Bonham joined the band who would eventually become known as Led Zeppelin, released two albums in their first year, and started selling out full arenas. Led Zeppelin became one of the most influential groups of the 1970s; added extravagant lasers and light shows to their performances; wore flamboyant outfits; and generated stories of debauchery and destruction while on tour. In 1980 Bonham-- plagued by alcoholism, anxiety, and the after-effects of years of excess-- was found dead by his bandmates. Kushins examines Bonham's career as one of the most important, well-known, and influential drummers in rock. -- adapted from jacket
