- School Library Journal Reviews : SLJ Reviews 2019 September
Copyright 2019 School Library Journal.PreS-Gr 2â Cookie Monster and his pink monster friend, Gonger, invites readers to join him on an adventure as he takes his foodie truck through Sesame Street. Hop aboard and learn about which kinds of foods are "sometimes foods" and which are "all-the-time foods." Along the way, meet up with other characters from the neighborhood who teach readers about nutrition and give out some recipes. Bert and Ernie share their recipe for blueberry and strawberry salad, while Grover dishes out the directions for making his super tomato soup. Some recipes require adult supervision, and we are reminded to wash our hands and be leery of food allergies before diving into cooking. Facts about the ingredients used in the recipes are also mentioned. For example, readers will learn that quinoa is really a seed and grows in South America. Illustrations are vivid and colorful and include people from varying cultures.VERDICT A lively and entertaining way to introduce cooking to youngsters and get them thinking about ways to keep their bodies healthy and strong. Includes a glossary, index, and bibliography.âMartha Rico, Yselta ISD, TX
