  • School Library Journal Reviews : SLJ Reviews 2018 November

Gr 2–4—Eight storied teams are singled out in this series that highlights the best and brightest of Major League Baseball (MLB). Each book dishes out the facts that burgeoning fans will be eager to learn, from a simplified overview of each team's history to its most famous managers and players. The clubs' ballparks are also discussed, including the two oldest functioning baseball stadiums in the United States, Fenway Park and Wrigley Field. "Highlights" sections summarize the biggest wins, focusing on pennants and World Series titles. The book on the Texas Rangers seems like an outlier as the team only has two pennants and zero World Series titles. VERDICT If one of your hometown teams is on this list, it's definitely worth the purchase. Otherwise, consider just the big teams: Red Sox, Cubs, Yankees, and Giants.
