Since 1985, Captain Rick Rhodes has lived aboard boats. He twice sailed his 33-footer to Central America. As an ex-Army Officer, he was an instructor with the Corps of Engineers. Later, his time in Washington D.C. was highlighted by work on the NAFTA. Rhodes has a graduate degree in Forestry, is well traveled in the Americas, and can speak Spanish passably. In 1999, Rhodes volunteered for the U.S. Peace Corps in South America. Rhodes grew up around Washington D.C., and in the Midwest. By the time he was 22 years old, he had visited all 48 contiguous statesâmostly by motorcycle. Rhodes has a passion for trailblazing, and he is often complimented on the thoroughness of his six easy-to-read, history-laden guidebooks.
