Library Journal Reviews : LJ Reviews 1997 September Jacobs offers an excellent introduction not only to macro photography but to any kind of intimate, detailed look at the world through the lens of a camera. He begins by taking readers systematically through the principles and techniques of this special kind of photography and follows up with chapters with good recommendations for selection of equipment and film. The book addresses composition, and there are separate chapters on indoor photography and outdoor photography. This handy work also discusses copy photography, one of the most common applications. With more than 40 years' experience as a photographer, Jacobs's is quite knowledgeable, and it shows here. His illustrations are both impressive and helpful in understanding the text. Written in a conversational style, this work provides an excellent introduction to this field of photography, especially for amateurs. Recommended for public libraries and other general-interest collections of photography. Raymond Bail, Parkland Coll. Lib., Champaign, Ill. Copyright 1998 Library Journal Reviews
