PreS Desmond is clean, quiet, and friendly until he begins to grow up and learns how to splash, bark, and chase cats. With his buddy, a purple bird, he tries out his new skills, each one more annoying than the previous, culminating in a hilarious finale. The text is precisely written, with just the right amount of repetition, giving toddlers the chance to guess what the canine's next action will be. As the font size changes, it offers clues as to where Desmond is in his behavioral development. Parker's cartoon watercolors create a perfect pup, innocent and joyful.
